"Socially engaged art" is an extension of relational practice, where artists propose a collaborative model to practice, promote, and reflect on community and artistic engagement. Sociability, the important part in social relations, has become the focal point of socially engaged art. However, when artists step out of their studios or classrooms and enter into crowds and unfamiliar communities, how should they establish relationships with people? What role do artists play in this process? This talk aims to explore the practice of socially engaged art, and the impact of the relationship between artists and residents on the effectiveness and sustainability of the society. In addition, the talk welcomes the audience to discuss, share experiences, and raise questions. Through this talk, we hope to promote the development and expansion of socially engaged art, and strengthen the interaction between the community and arts.

Everyday objects, such as a broken cup or a throw pillow from a friend, hold their own stories and experiences. The way they appear in our memories creates a unique image, much like how each person has their own character and personality. Participants in this workshop are invited to reimagine their relationship with these objects and bring them to life as toy characters with unique appearances and personalities, using various materials.
